Erin re-enters the arena...

guess who's back, back again...

Well, hi! Again. The third time over. I have returned to the blog-o-sphere! Erins Exploit's and Erin, ever since (my previous blog iterations) live inside my heart as a place where I was able to express myself through young adulthood and write out questions, vulnerabilities, and silly stories in a safe zone.

Graduate school and early career burned me out on writing and enhanced my inner critic enough that I eventually convinced myself that I didn't really have anything novel or meaningful or exciting to say, and that, perhaps, sticking to academic writing should be my outlet. Lately, though, I haven't been able to shake the feeling that I need to write, and write, and write some more.

My creative spirit has subconsciously been meditating on ways to be of service to others in an accessible, creative, and fun way. As I've continued to grow personally and professionally after the last decade, watching and experience our current social, political, and global climate, I feel like I want to help others in to make their everyday lives better in small, simple, significant ways. And the best way to do that is through education, connection, and encouragement. What we psychologists call psychoeducation.

I deeply believe in Maya Angelou’s truth:

“When you know better, you do better.”

Build with that, Jon Kabat Zinn's well known mantra:

You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.

That’s it. That’s the foundation.

That’s psychoeducation. The act of learning about how your brain works, how it affects the way you experience the world, and learning ways to help you navigate life's waves, ebbs, flows, and tsunamis.

Because here’s the thing:

We are all born with unique wiring. Genetics. Temperaments. Life experiences. Systems that support us—or don’t.

And those things impact everything:

  • How we feel

  • How we react

  • How we regulate

  • How we learn

  • How we relate to others

  • How we dream and set goals

And although we aren't in control a lot of things that happened to us in our formative years, as young adults (or well-seasoned adults), it is our responsibility to learn how to manage ourselves in a way that is consistent with our values and goals.

I believe that you deserve to understand yourself.

Whether you’re 8 or 88.

Whether you’ve been through trauma, neglect, systemic injustice, or just "plain old life."

You deserve tools—not guilt, frustration, or shame.

You deserve to learn how to use skills—not suffer in silence.

You deserve to find your own flow.

That’s why I created Know Your Flow.

Because when you learn about how you work, (Know Better) you can take better care of yourself

And when you take better care of yourself, you feel more grounded, more capable, and more at peace (Do Better)..

So, stay tuned! As the web has evolved, the blogosphere has involved too. It's my goal to incorporate blog posts, web series videos, and short tik tok videos under 'Know Your Flow' to keep things interesting for you. We'll talk about school psychology, if you should pursue psychological assessment, common mental health conditions, and much much more!

If you have psychology or education topics you want to learn more about, email me and let me know, I'll make sure to cover them here. Because I guarantee if you are wondering about it, other people are too!

It's good to be back.

Peace, Love, and Flow.
